Located in the heart of the City of Buena Park, Ascent is an adaptive reuse development project bringing a 57 unit building with wrap-around services to support its future residents. The community will provide high-quality permanent supportive housing for 57 formerly homeless individuals who earn between 30%-50% of the area median income (AMI) in a community with wrap-around supportive services and opportunities. This apartment community is comprised of an interior and exterior update of the two existing two-story buildings to create a modern design with fully-furnished units complete with a home starter kit with essentials for residents to support their new chapter in permanent housing.
Jamboree has a proven track record for delivery of programming and resident services that benefit its residents including counseling, job and career training, access to computers and technology, and after-school care. An on-site property manager at Ascent will work closely with the community as a whole and its individual tenants to provide, or create access to, necessary services. Jamboree expands the delivery of services through innovative community service partnerships with school districts, government entities, healthcare organizations, resident groups, community alliances, social enterprises, philanthropy, and other nonprofits, aligned for best practices and shared goals.
Ascent tenants will have on-property services and access to nearby transit to workplaces; safety protocols include such measures as on-property surveillance and fob-restricted entry; and each of the newly updated apartments will be fully furnished and, upon move-in, will include a home starter kit of household essentials for residents, including linens, kitchen supplies, cleaning products, and other necessities.
As part of the County of Orange’s goal to build 2,700 supportive housing units by 2023, Ascent is an example of how cities can creatively rezone assets – which currently attract a high-frequency, transient clientele – into attractive, permanent residential apartments that address affordable and supportive housing needs within a community. Working closely with leadership from the City of Buena Park and local non-profits and stakeholders including the Rauch Family Foundation, Ascent will live up to its name to support the stability, safety and growth of its residents and the community as a whole.
